Are You a True Swiftie? Finish These Lyrics To Find Out
Since breaking into the mainstream with her mega hit “Love Story” in 2008, Taylor Swift has become the definition of super star.
The 34-year-old singer is not only the first woman to be named Time magazine’s Person of the Year twice but she’s also won the most American music awards in history, including taking home the Grammy for Album of the Year four times.
Her Eras tour, which launched in 2023, has broken multiple records, including the highest-grossing tour by a female artist and the most tickets sold in a single day. So many fans clambered for tickets that they broke the Ticketmaster website in 2022, leading the Department of Justice to launch an investigation.
The tour has helped the pop star reach billionaire status, adding approximately $1.1 billion to her already substantial net worth. Clocking in at three-and-a-half hours, each of the tour’s 10 acts is named after one of Swift’s albums and focuses on a different period in her life. Demand for the tour has been so high, that the pop star has repeatedly added extra dates. But she announced at her 100th show in Liverpool last week that the final one is set for December 8, 2024, in Vancouver, Canada.
For those unable to bag tickets—some of which have sold for almost $700 each—the concert film is available to watch on Disney Plus.
It’s fair to say that the singer’s fans are a dedicated bunch, but how much of a Swiftie are you? Put your knowledge of Mother to the test and see if you can match the lyrics correctly to Swift’s most popular songs, based on streaming figures.
When Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour concert film hit theaters in August, it smashed box office records, selling more pre-sale tickets than any other movie. AMC, who distributed the film in its cinemas, reported $26 million in ticket sales within three hours, breaking the previous record set by Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Swifties played a crucial role in the film’s success, with many attending screenings in elaborate costumes and partaking in sing-alongs and dance sessions within movie theaters. The film was given an A+ rating by Cinema Score viewers and has a 99 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. By the end of its theatrical run in January, the Eras Tour movie had grossed $267.1 million worldwide in 13 weeks.
The film’s streaming figures have been equally impressive. After landing on Disney Plus in March, the movie received over 4.6 million views in just three days, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In April, Swift surprised fans with a double-album drop, after announcing she would be releasing her 11th studio album at the Grammy Awards. The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology, was streamed over 300 million times on its first day on Spotify—another record for the music icon—while the lead single “Fortnight” became the platform’s most-streamed song in a single day.
