Taylor Swift sends fans wild as she opens Cardiff show speaking WELSH and rewrites song to include local slang during one night only gig in the capital
Taylor Swift sent fans wild after she opened her Cardiff gig speaking Welsh before rewriting one tune for the show on Tuesday evening.
The singer, 34, is currently on the UK leg of her Eras tour with her latest concert at the Welsh capital’s Principality Stadium as she performed to a whopping crowd of 70,000.
Taylor kicked off the show welcoming her fans and saying in Welsh ‘Croeso i’r daith Eras!’ which translates to ‘Welcome to the Eras Tour’.
Then during a rendition of break up hit We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together she passed her microphone to a dancer who exclaimed ‘Ych-a-fi’ a Welsh term to describe something disgusting.
She later gushed over the audience saying: ‘This crowd in Cardiff is one for the books. This crowd is different, you’re another level!’
It comes after Swifites rejoiced following a significant change being announced ahead of the Cardiff show.
The roof of the stadium will remain closed, meaning there will be no fireworks display at the end of Taylor’s performance.
The change, which has been confirmed on the stadium’s fan guide, has been well received by fans who feel they will enjoy the visuals better in darkness.
Taking to X/Twitter, one fan wrote: ‘Roof is closed. No fireworks. But show will be in the dark I think!’ to which another replied: ‘We should be getting full effect of the wristbands tonight then.’
Others wrote: ‘So jealous of people in Cardiff getting a roof so will see the full extent of the wristbands and lights. It will look unreal.’
‘The roof is going to be shut. The UK Swifties will finally get to see the full effects of the light up bracelets, everyone cheered.’
‘The roof is gonna be closed, it’s gonne be a dark show yessss.’
This comes after she thanked fans for attending her series of shows in Liverpool following her playing the last Anfield Stadium date on Saturday.

This comes after she thanked fans for attending her series of shows in Liverpool following her playing the last Anfield Stadium date on Saturday.
It was reported that there were at least 62,000 Swifties inside the ground for the first gig.
‘So many dreamy memories from Liverpool!!’ she wrote on Instagram.
‘We played our 100th show on The Eras Tour (which feels truly deranged to say because this show feels new to me every time we play it).
‘I want say thank you to our Eras Tour crew, my fellow performers and band who have now committed hundreds of hours to putting on this show and giving their all on and behind that stage.
‘I can’t believe the work ethic, creativity and dedication I get to be surrounded with every day.
‘All three Liverpool crowds were so expressive and generous and endlessly fun.
‘Thank you to everyone who came out this weekend (you broke the all-time stadium attendance record!!) AND thank you to everyone who has come to any of the shows on The Eras Tour. It’s been the adventure of a lifetime because of you.’
The tour, which is set to return to London in August to end the UK and European leg of the tour, is estimated to be worth up to £1 billion to the UK economy.
The tour became the first tour to cross the billion-dollar mark last year according to Pollstar’s 2023 year-end charts.
Meanwhile a BBC Wales presenter gave a special Taylor Swift inspired weather forecast ahead of the singer’s Cardiff show.
The pop icon has been struggling to adjust to the cold weather of the UK with three sold-out shows in Scotland last week.
But it appears Taylor could be in for warmer weather when she takes to the stage on Tuesday, with the BBC reporting she’s ‘Out Of The Woods’ when it comes to the ‘Treacherous weather.’
Meteorologist and superfan Sabrina Lee gave a fun update, wearing a hot pink sequinned dress and glittery makeup.
Renaming the UK’s major cities after some of Taylor’s songs, she assured Swifties there would be ‘no Midnight rain’ but reminded them to ‘bring a Cardigan.’
Sharing the clip to X, the broadcaster captioned: ‘Our Wildest Dreams have come true, Taylor Swift is back in Cardiff tomorrow night!
‘BBC Wales weather presenter and Swiftie superfan Sabrina Lee takes us through the forecast for Tuesday.’
