The duo each received individual invites, according to TMZ, and both of them have declined the hot-ticket invitation this year. It’s obvious why Swift turned down the opportunity, but the outlet speculated that he didn’t want to go without his gal on his arm. The Met Gala has become one of the most prestigious social events in Manhattan each year, and it might have felt awkward for the NFL star to go alone — it was too big of a night to walk solo on the red carpet.

That brings up the big question for fans: When will Swift and Kelce make their red-carpet couple debut? The “thanK you aIMee” singer is booked and busy throughout the entire summer with her European leg wrapping up at Wembley Stadium on Aug. 20 in London. She has time off in September and October, just as Kelce kicks off his NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs. She also has Canada tour dates in late November and early December, so it’s going to be a long time before they hit the red carpet together.

Swifties will have to settle for candid paparazzi shots when Kelce visits her in Europe, where he reportedly has some romantic Italy plans. “He booked some very nice hotels suites and tables at great restaurants to take her on days off,” a source shared with The U.S. Sun late last year. “He wants to take her on romantic getaways to have her relax and go discover those nice cities and European romantic places together.”
